NCC-AWIS: Scholarship Awards

The Northern California Chapters of AWIS present annual scholarships to women at local community colleges. The recipients must be in science-related degree programs and generally are re-entry women who have returned to school after having left school for some period of time.  Each local chapter determines the colleges from which they will accept applications and the number of scholarships to award each year. A special scholarship, the Kathleen Miller Memorial Scholarship, is awarded by the East Bay chapter in memory of Kathleen Miller, a founder of the East Bay chapter and very active member in the early days of the chapter.  This scholarship is funded through an endowment provided by Kathleen's family after her death in 1996. The scholarships are awarded at the annual Recognition Award Dinner held at Genentech in April.
